    Play Close Improvement

We are pleased to announce that Melton Mowbray Town Estate has had funding approved to create a destination park in The Queen Elizabeth II Field Play Close, Melton Mowbray.

Parents and children in Melton Mowbray are set to get greatly improved play facility thanks to a £100,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation.

The money, will be used to buy play equipment to improve the existing play provision in The Queen Elizabeth II Field Play Close in the town centre parks Melton Mowbray.

John Southerington, Chairman of Feoffees of Melton Mowbray Town Estate believes the facility will make a huge difference to the lives of people living in the area.

He says: “This project will provide a real boost to the people of Melton Mowbray. It’s fantastic that FCC Communities Foundation has awarded us this money and we’re really looking forward to our play provision improvements taking shape over the next 6 months”

FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects from funds donated by FCC Environment through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Cheryl Raynor, FCC Community Foundations local grant manager says: “We are delighted to be supporting Melton Mowbray Town Estate to help bring this project to fruition, this is a fantastic facility for local people and we look forward to work starting soon.
FCC Communities Foundation is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that make a difference to local communities and this is a great example of what can be achieved.”

John Southerington hopes the improved play provision in Play Close will be ready to use by the start of July, just in time for the schools closing for the summer holidays.

The Melton Mowbray Town Estate are very grateful to the FCC Communities Foundation for the award, without which the project would not have been able to go ahead. The Town Estate would also like to thank the other collaborators to the scheme, specifically Melton BID and Melton Borough Council who; working together for the benefit of the Town will see the Play Close and town centre parks improved for residents and visitors to the town and borough of Melton Mowbray.
